Hewanorra Airport Car Rental Can Be A Great Way to Explore St. Lucia

4/17/2016

If you are planning to visit St. Lucia from another country, the chances are high that you will be arriving at St. Lucia Airport.  Located on the southern part of the island, Hewanorra, or UVF, is where a vast majority of travelers to the island make their entry.  One thing that every traveler to the island needs to consider is how they will get around while they are here.  Finding a reputable St. Lucia taxi is certainly a fantastic option, but for some people, renting a car can be a better fit.  This is especially true if you are looking for a broader selection, as the airport is a major hub for the island.  Getting a St. Lucia rental car is also advised for those looking to go sightseeing or exploring from the moment they arrive on the island.

St. Lucia rental car companies are not all the same.  You certainly want to look into prices, but there is more to take into consideration as well.  If you intend to navigate some of the island’s rougher terrains, for example, you will want a vehicle that has a 4x4 option so that you can navigate smoothly and easily.  You want a company that provides free pickup and delivery and that provides the type of vehicle you are looking for, whether it is a sedan, an SUV, or a luxury car.  If you have drivers under 22 in your party, you will also want to look for St. Lucia car rentals that offer a young driver policy.

Simply put, you want to take your time when choosing a Hewanorra Airport rental car company.  Not only do you want the right type of vehicle, but you want one that is well maintained, air conditioned, and that has the options you need to not only travel in comfort and style, but to help you get to each destination.  St. Lucia has many exciting things to see and do both on and off the beaten path, and options such as navigation systems can help make it easy to enjoy it all.

At the end of the day, there are a number of car rentals at Hewanorra Airport, but they are certainly not all the same.  While you may be tempted to go with a large chain, you will find that the prices and the service are better when you choose a company run by people who truly love the island and whose primary business goal is to ensure that you have the best trip possible.  The right rental car is your ticket to exploring St. Lucia, so you certainly want to make the right choice.

Gros piton hike review by kevin

HI Janus

With regards to our Gros Piton Hike, it was one of the hardest but most enjoyable achievements in a long time. In that heat and humidity for a couple of Scottish people it was quite something. Having passed 3 American couples and a French couple coming down only making it half way up was worrying but Lesa and I pushed through and made our way to the summit in 1hour 40 mins. We achieved the same time coming back down which was difficult with my knees having played soccer all my days, they aren't in the best condition.

Shane was great - on time - good chat and made sure we were comfortable in his company.

I felt very sorry for him on the journey back when he hit a pot hole and got a puncture. Not the greatest birthday present he'll ever get! But again he made sure both of us (and himself) were safe before he changed the tyre. Unfortunately, I was of no use to help him as I'm not in any way a hands on kinda guy! 10 mins delay and we were safely on our way. His space saver wheel, getting a lot of pointing and laughing from the local school children!!!
All in all - a great day. hard work, but thats never hurt anyone.

On behalf of my wife and I, thanks for everything you organized for us, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour & time in St. Lucia

Will Whittecar - Gros Piton Hike Review

8/23/2014

My fiance and I recently cruised with Carnival through St. Lucia and booked this tour. Ian was a fantastic driver and tour guide, picking us up promptly from the pier and giving us great information about the island. He even brought us freshly picked bananas from his own yard.

The hike was very strenuous but beautiful. Due to our time constraint to be back at the boat, we only reached the halfway point before turning around. A note for other crusiers: the trailhead is ~1.5 hours away from the pier, and the hike is estimated to take at least 4 hours round trip, so be sure to allot as much time is possible to be able to make it to the top.

All things considered, we had an amazing experience and highly recommend this tour. Thank you again to Ian and our trail guide!

Our Grande Piton excursion was great.  The driver Randal was accommodating.  We left Sandals at 7 so we did not have time for breakfast or the opportunity to get snacks for the hike, once he realized this he suggested we stop at a market to get supplies.  He know the place to stop and saved the day.

The guide, Corrine was very patient us.  My daughter, her fiancé and me are runners and pretty much in shape and prepared for the hike but my wife found the hike challenging, Corrine was patient and never made my wife feel rushed and that made all the difference.  When my wife reached the top she felt she had summited Everest.

We will definitely recommend this excursion to our friends

A quick note of thanks for making our shore excursion in St. Lucia a terrific and memorable one. Gideon, our driver, was waiting for us when we disembarked from the cruise ship, and during the drive to Gros Piton shared much about the island with us while navigating the mountain roads.

When we arrived, Cameron met us and took us up the trail, pausing when we needed a break and making conversation at each rest stop about the mountain, his experiences climbing it and the island in general.

The climb was tough, especially near the top, but the view of the island was fantastic at the summit! The return trip down the mountain and drive back to the ship went smoothly, with over an hour to spare before the ship left the port. Thank you for a terrific day!

we have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience with Danny. He was very punctual to pick us up from our resort. It is apparent that he takes good care of his taxi. One of the members in our group got sick, and Danny was very patient and understanding when he decided he needed to go back to the resort. When we were finally on our way, Danny drove us carefully through the winding mountains until we arrived at the Gros Piton Trail. He encouraged us and gave us some advice before we started our hike. When we finally made our way back to him. He was happily waiting for us. He knew we would all be starving and he immediately drove us to a restaurant with two women eagerly waiting for us. We were so excited to enjoy the local cuisine and the ladies' cooking did not disappoint. It was delicious.

When we left the restaurant, Danny began his tour, explaining each city and town and pointing out the sites. He allowed us time to stop and take pictures along the way. He also took us to the mud baths and took pictures for us to remember the fun! He allowed us to ask him our questions, and he answered each one with knowledge and detail. He dropped us back off at our resort safe and sound. We could not have asked for a greater guide around the beautiful paradise we know as St. Lucia.

If we ever find ourselves back in St. Lucia, we know exactly who to call. Thanks again for an incredible day.

Our Real St. Lucia Tour Experience Review

2/18/2014

After our wonderful cruise, life hit us again full blast.  Regardless, the memories of our cruise and the various stops we made continue to linger!

Never having been on a cruise before, there were many unknowns and uncertainties, especially around the expeditions we planned on our own.  Our adventure on St. Lucia was one of those.

We figured we would be riding in a bus or van with a group of people.  We felt pampered with the private guide and vehicle!  The focused attention given us made the tour very enjoyable, unique and memorable.  Our guide Sammy (I believe that was his name!  Spelling may be off!) did an excellent job of customizing the tour to our desires, while making sure we got a taste of the real St. Lucia (pun not originally intended!) that he thought was important and that you wouldn't get with a typical group tour.  It certainly was not your typical, superficial, Americanized tour that does not get you in touch with the culture!  We met some of his friends, were shown and allowed to experience some of the culture and local foods, and were educated as to some background, history and stories around many of the sights.

We were pleased with the tour, and definitely felt that we got our money's worth!
